Where the Information Comes From
- From you, when you order, create an account, sign up for emails, or email us.
- Automatically, through cookies and similar technologies when you browse the site.
- From our service providers, such as our payment processor confirming a transaction result, or a carrier confirming delivery.
How We Use Personal Information
- To fulfill your order: take payment, pass shipping details to our supplier and carriers, send confirmations and tracking, and handle returns and refunds.
- To support you: answer your emails and resolve problems with an order.
- To run and improve the site: keep it working, measure page performance, and understand which products people are looking for.
- To market to you: send promotional emails if you signed up, and show advertising on other sites. You can opt out of both at any time.
- To prevent fraud and keep the site secure.
- To meet legal obligations, including tax and accounting record-keeping, and to respond to valid legal process.
Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies in three groups:
- Strictly necessary — your cart, your session, checkout security. The site cannot work without these.
- Analytics — how many people visit which pages, and where they came from.
- Advertising — used to show you our products on other websites.
You can reject analytics and advertising cookies through the cookie banner or the cookie settings control on our site, and you can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Rejecting advertising cookies does not affect your ability to shop, check out, or return anything.
Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we automatically treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for that browser and device. You do not need to take any further step. Other than GPC, we do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, because there is no common standard for them.
How We Disclose Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We disclose it to:
- Shopify, which hosts this store and processes order and account data on our behalf.
- Our payment processor, to take payment and screen for fraud.
- Our fulfillment supplier in China and the shipping carriers (USPS and FedEx), to pick, pack, and deliver your order. They receive your name, address, and phone number.
- Our returns facility in California, to receive and check returned items.
- Analytics and advertising providers, which receive online identifiers. This is the disclosure that counts as "sharing" under California law, and you can opt out of it.
- Legal and corporate recipients, where we must comply with law or valid legal process, enforce our terms, protect our rights or someone's safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or insolvency.
International Data Transfers
Your personal information is transferred outside the United States as a normal part of fulfilling your order. Specifically, your name, shipping address, and phone number are transferred to our fulfillment supplier in China so your parcel can be addressed and dispatched, and order and account records are accessible to AURELIA SKINCARE LIMITED in Hong Kong. Order data is also processed in the United States by Shopify and by our returns facility.
Privacy laws in these jurisdictions differ from those in your state. By placing an order you understand that this transfer is required in order to ship your purchase to you. We share only what is needed to fulfill the order.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your state, you may have the rights below. They are not absolute and we may decline a request where the law permits.
- Right to know or access the personal information we hold about you and how we use it.
- Right to delete personal information we hold, subject to exceptions such as completing a transaction or keeping tax records.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to portability — to receive a copy in a usable format.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing for targeted advertising. See Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect any, so there is nothing to limit.
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.
How to Make a Request
Email support@avermonts.com and tell us which right you are exercising. We will confirm we received it within 10 business days and respond substantively within 45 calendar days, extendable once by a further 45 days where the request is complex — we will tell you if we need the extension.
To verify your identity we will match the email address you write from against our records. For a deletion or access request we may ask you to confirm details of a recent order. We will not ask you for a government-issued identity document.
Authorized Agents
You may appoint an authorized agent to make a request for you. We may ask for written proof of that authorization and may ask you to confirm it directly.
Right to Appeal
If we refuse your request, we will explain why. You may appeal by replying to our response or emailing support@avermonts.com with the subject line "Privacy Appeal". We will respond in writing with our decision and the reasons for it. If we deny your appeal, you may complain to your state Attorney General.
California "Shine the Light"
California residents may request details of personal information disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information for that purpose.
Marketing Emails
If you signed up for marketing emails, every one we send has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. We will still send transactional messages about orders you have placed — confirmations, shipping notices, and refund notices — because those are part of fulfilling your order.
We do not send SMS or text-message marketing.
Children's Privacy
This store is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we have no actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email support@avermonts.com and we will delete it.
Security and Retention
Our site and checkout run over HTTPS with TLS encryption, and payments are processed by third-party payment providers that maintain PCI DSS compliance. We never store your full card number.
No security measure is perfect and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send sensitive information such as card numbers by email. Retention periods are in the Notice at Collection table above.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. We will post the revised version here and update the effective date at the top.
